Why hair extensions ruined your hair.
Have you always wanted the long, thick, mermaid hair of your dreams, but something in the back of your mind told you it was not a good idea? We have all seen the horror stories of people’s natural hair completely shredded to pieces after wearing certain types of hair extensions. Maybe it has even happened to you!
Thank goodness for IBE! If you are new around here, IBE stands for Invisible Bead Extensions which is a particular type of extension method that is continuing to be the best in the industry by always putting the client’s hair & scalp health FIRST.
This is actually very rare in the world of hair extensions. Lots of companies only care about a ‘quick fix’. How do we make the clients hair as long and thick as possible, as quickly as possible, and how do we certify as many stylists as possible, as quickly as possible?
Not with IBE. They truly take pride in making sure every certified stylist works through an intense certification process, as well as pass a number of tests before they are finally granted a certification from IBE. Stylists work one-on-one with a mentor during the certification process, as well as having access to this mentor, and multiple others, beyond their inital certification. They are always willing to help stylists through any bumps in the road to ensure that everyone in the company is providing high level services across the board.
They also offer TONS of continuing education within the company itself for any stylists who want to further their education and perform at the highest level possible. The attention to detail is insane.
And now to answer the inital question- why would hair extensions be damaging- and how is IBE changing the game as far as causing the least amount of damage possible?
There are a few key factors that contribute to hair extension damage that other companies sometimes neglect, or completely ignore altogether. The first factor is correct density matching. If you are someone who struggles with fine or thinning hair, what makes you think that the already sparse hairs you have can support the weight of bulky hair extensions? Some extension methods pay this no mind and add as much hair as possible- which may look good at first, but what is left when those extensions come out eventually? It is so important to make sure that a guest’s row of extensions is not overloaded with more weight than their natural density can support. We pay super close attention to this with IBE.
Another important factor is the foundation of the install, aka how the extensions are actually attatched to the natural hair. IBE is a type of beaded row extensions, where we take small beads and use them to attatch the hair extensions to your hair. There are SO many types of extension methods, with new ones popping up all the time- but you can rest assured that thousands of guests have come before you and tested IBE to the max. Our founders and the people who work for IBE have worked hard to improve it and make it the best method there is to offer.
Our foundation stands apart from the rest by putting the least amount of tension on the natural hair and scalp as possible. We are paying meticulous attention to every single hair during an install. This not only makes IBE extremely comfortable, but also super safe for your natural hair because it is not pulling out any extra hairs. With IBE’s Master’s program, stylists must submit 50 rows to a mentor and assess not only the installs, but the growouts too!
This is why you will often see IBE referred to as “The Original Flip-Up”. Not only do we care about how the extensions look on the outside, but we even care about the underneath of the row. IBE was the first patented extension method on the market, and we were the first to cover the beads underneath so your extensions are always undetectable- even if you wear your hair up. We care about the install, AND we care about the growout. This means we are always making assessments to ensure that the extensions are not doing any extra harm to your natural hair.
I have personally had several guests remove their hair extensions recently because their natural hair was longer & thicker than it has ever been! I am proud to represent a company that is defying the norm when it comes to hair extensions and damage. There is a reason that IBE is the only method I offer at SBB Salon, and so many other like-minded stylists in our community feel the same. If you have been wanting to give hair extensions a try, I encourage you to check out IBE and our amazing community. I offer free-in person consultations for any guests who are interested in IBE, and I am always happy to chat about this amazing method!
Say goodbye to the days of damaging hair extensions, and hello to the new world of safe and comfortable hair extensions completely customized for YOU!
