SUMMER HAIR-CARE ESSENTIALS
Do you LOVE summertime as much as I do? In the lake, at the beach, in the pool, there is truly nothing better. It is such a good reset for the mind and body, but what about the hair? The dreaded dry, tangled mess that it leaves your hair feeling is the worst! Sometimes it is so bad you cannot even get a brush through those knarly knots. We have ALL been there.
Don’t worry- I am here to give you all the secrets to help you enjoy a beautiful summer outside without ruining your hair- especially your hair extensions. The reality is- you invested a lot of time and money into your hair color and extensions, so you don’t want to destroy it just to have a little fun outside.
The main key is BE PREPARED! I like to say that it is not difficult to take really good care of your hair extensions, but it does take a little bit of extra time.
The three ESSENTIAL things you will need to keep your hair looking it’s best at all times this summer are:
AN EXTENSION SAFE SUNSCREEN! (No Avobenzone! It will turn the hair orange/pink)
A DEEP CONDITIONING MASK & A GOOD LEAVE- IN CONDITIONER- apply this to damp hair before going in the water to prevent it from soaking up so many chemicals and secure it with bubble braids or a neat, secure bun.
A HAIR BRUSH & HAIR TIE- The wind is NOT your friend. The worst possible combo is damp hair and the wind blowing it around, causing the biggest rats nest you have ever seen.
Thankfully, Invisible Bead Extensions has their very own hair care line, Goldie Locks, that my clients and I are obsessed with! They carry an amazing mineral sunscreen that is hair extension safe, and an awesome leave-in conditioner and deep conditioning mask.
If you are not prepared for the summer, I have seen some horror stories of extensions being completely destroyed and not salvagable- and sometimes they will take your natural hair down with them if they are so matted they have to actually be cut out. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU! Be prepared, invest in some good hair-care products, and make sure you take that extra 5-10 minutes before you head off on vacation or out to the pool so that your hair stays looking healthy all summer long!`
