The REAL reasons you can’t get that salon quality blowout at home.

You get home from the hair salon, and your hair looks the best it’s ever looked! But how come you can’t recreate that smooth, bouncy blowout at home?

It all starts with professional, salon quality products! Your hair stylist is curating a hair routine that is unique to your hair and its specific needs. They wash it with the perfect type of shampoo, then probably give you some sort of deep conditioning treatment or hair mask to restore shine and moisture to your hair.

Then come the styling products. They layer in a few styling products with tons of benefits such as detangling, de-frizzing, heat protection, UV protection, and more! You can typically get all of this from a really good leave-in conditioner which I believe every guest could benefit from having in their hair care routine!

Last but not least, we will typically add in a lightweight mousse to give the style some longevity, and finish off with a light-medium hold hairspray.

Two other big factors that we focus on at the salon are tension & overdirection. We smooth the hair out by holding a lot of tension as we round brush the hair dry. Then we get lots of volume at the root by holding the hair up and blow drying the hair in an opposite direction from where it naturally lays. These two things will help give you that celebrity blowout at home!

The biggest difference between most salon blowouts and home blowouts is the amount of product used and the time taken to perform the blowout correctly. As stylists, we hear it all the time that you can never make your hair look the same at home. Ask yourself if you have the correct products in your arsenal, and do you take enough time to really work to smooth it out like we do at the salon? These things could really help you step up your blowout game at home!
